Cadillac Announces Pricing For 2023 Lyriq Electric SUV, Open Order Books

Luxury brands are eager to enter the all-electric SUV segment and it's the same case for Cadillac. The automaker started producing the all-electric Lyriq in March and launched the SUV in the Debut Edition with rear-wheel drive. The Debut Edition is also only available in silver and black paint jobs and has a limited list of options. That model carries a starting price tag of $59,990 and is set to arrive in driveways this summer. Cadillac is finally ready to share information on the rest of the Lyriq lineup. 

Lyriq Is Reasonably Priced

For shoppers that want a rear-wheel-drive Lyriq with a single electric motor, the cost of the SUV starts at $62,990 (with destination). The all-wheel-drive model adds a second electric motor at the front wheels and costs $64,990. As far electric vehicles go, the $2,000 difference between models with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive is relatively small. 

As far as performance goes, rear-wheel-drive Lyriq SUVs have 340 horsepower and an estimated range of 312 miles. Deliveries of the rear-wheel-drive Lyriq are expected to start this fall. The all-wheel-drive Lyriq brings an even 500 horsepower and has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. Range estimates for the all-wheel-drive Lyriq aren't available yet. While the all-wheel-drive Lyriq looks like the vehicle to get with a lot more power, a versatile towing capacity, and a reasonable starting price tag, deliveries of the model won't start until early in 2023. 

Cadillac will provide Lyriq customers with a choice of either a $1,500 credit to get a home charger installed at a house or unlimited charging credits that can be used at public EVgo stations. The $1,500 credit can be used on either a 240-volt outlet or a Level 2 charger. Every Lyriq will come with a portable charging cable that can connect to a 120-volt outlet or a 240-volt outlet. With a Level 2 charger, Cadillac claims the electric SUV will be able to get up to 52 miles of range back in an hour. A DC fast charger will give the Lyriq 76 miles of range in roughly 10 minutes. 

Reservations Are Full

At the same time Cadillac announced pricing for the 2023 Lyriq, the automaker also opened up its order books for the SUV. Unfortunately, interested buyers will be sad to hear that Cadillac sold out of all of its allocation for the 2023 model year within hours. The automaker received so many orders that it's already looking into increasing production for the SUV. 

The Lyriq marks Cadillac's second all-electric vehicle and is the EV that signals the switch to electric cars for the luxury brand. The American automaker will become an all-electric brand by 2030.
