Ford F-150 Lightning Range, MPGe Leaked in Window Stickers

While Ford is supposed to start delivering the F-150 Lightning in the near future, we still don't have official figures on the electric truck's fuel economy and range. All we've had to go on are Ford's estimates, which it put out when it unveiled the model. Now, a couple of window stickers for a few of the F-150 Lightning's trims have hit the Internet courtesy of a user on the F-150 Gen14 forum and they look pretty convincing.

Exceeding Previous Estimates

As we know, Ford only has plans to offer the F-150 Lightning with two battery packs at the time of launch. A Standard Range battery is, well, standard, while an Extended Range battery pack is available. The window sticker for the Pro trim with the Standard Range battery pack reveals that it will be able to travel up to 230 miles on a single charge. That matches Ford's original estimate for the battery pack.

Range for the Extended Range battery pack depends on trims. With the Pro and Lariat trims, the Extended Range battery pack results in 320 miles of range, while the Platinum falls slightly behind with a range of 300 miles. The difference in range for the Platinum trim, we suspect, boils down to its larger 22-inch wheels and heavier weight. Still, these figures are better than what Ford estimated. The automaker expected the Extended Range battery to have a maximum range of 300 miles, while the Platinum was supposed to top out at 280 miles. So, Ford actually, reportedly, delivered an extra 20 miles of range.

More eagle-eyed readers may notice that there's an option for a Pro trim with the Extended Range battery pack. This is new to us, as well, as Ford's configurator only has an option for a Pro trim with the Standard Range battery pack. Apparently, the window sticker for this configuration claims that it's a "special order." It's possible that Ford could require fleet customers to special order this configuration in limited quantities or that Ford is planning to expand the Pro lineup.

Competitive For The Segment

The monronies also have information on charge times. When plugged into a 240-volt charger, the Pro trim with the Standard Range battery will take 11.9 hours to charge. Models with the Extended Range battery packs, including the Pro and Lariat take 10.1 hours, while the Platinum trim takes 9.3 hours.

When it comes to fuel economy, the models with the most range are the most efficient. The Pro and Lariat trims with the Extended Range battery get up to 70 MPGe combined, while the Platinum is rated at 68 MPGe. The Pro trim with the Standard Range battery pack can get up to 66 MPGe.

We'll have to wait and see if these figures are real when the EPA comes out with its official numbers, but the F-150 Lightning appears to be a close rival to the Rivian R1T.
