2024 Hyundai Santa Fe's European Appearance

The Hyundai Palisade has been a popular choice for customers seeking a three-row SUV with minivan practicality and improved ride height. However, Hyundai has now introduced the all-new Santa Fe, which offers a rugged-yet-refined option for those who enjoy off-road adventures. Although slightly smaller than the Palisade, the Santa Fe's redesigned exterior and competitive starting price make it a worthy rival to more luxurious SUVs. With a reasonable price and reliable powertrains, Hyundai could have a major success on its hands.

The 2024 Santa Fe is set to arrive in North America and Europe in 2024, with South Korean customers able to place their orders starting in September of this year. As we await pricing and drivetrain details for North America, it's worth noting that the European version of the SUV will have a different appearance. Unfortunately, European customers will miss out on the bold front design that includes a horizontal LED bar connecting the H-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). Hyundai made this change after the light bar did not perform well in Euro NCAP safety tests. Despite this alteration, the Santa Fe will still maintain its rugged and masculine appearance, along with its practical interior and new features.

Although the European version may lack the distinctive light bar, it will still feature the H-shaped DRLs and an imposing body, ensuring it stands out on European roads. Interestingly, the slim light bar has become a way for some automakers to differentiate their electric vehicles from traditional gas or diesel models. While there is no confirmation of an all-electric Santa Fe at this time, a plug-in hybrid version will be available in most markets. American and Canadian customers can also look forward to a slightly enhanced aesthetic for the 2024 Santa Fe.

In terms of safety ratings, Euro NCAP has updated its testing procedures, making it more challenging for vehicles to achieve a five-star rating. Automakers must now incorporate child presence detection systems, ensure easy operation of electronically-operated windows and doors in case of submergence, and include advanced autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems that account for motorcyclists, pedestrians, and cyclists. The AEB system must also be effective in preventing head-on collisions.
