Counting how many ‘simply clever' items are on the latest Skoda Superb, someone found a total of 28. These items include the umbrella in the door pocket and the electrically operated load cover in the Combi estate.

The Skoda Superb has been a mainstay for the brand for quite some time now, with its diesel models being particularly popular over the years. I still remember its introduction more than 20 years ago.

Similar to its debut, the new model continues to focus on diesel and petrol engines, but now also offers an updated plug-in hybrid version exclusively for the estate model. The plug-in hybrid has an electric-only range of over 100 kilometers. Additionally, for the first time, there is a mild hybrid option available for one of the petrol engines.

The engine power of the Skoda Superb ranges from 150hp to 265hp. The top diesel and petrol engines come with all-wheel-drive, and all powertrains are equipped with a standard DSG automatic transmission.

Skoda has introduced a radical and clever new interior concept for the Superb. This includes a free-standing 13-inch infotainment screen and relocating the gear-selector lever to the steering column, resulting in a tidier and more spacious center console area.

The new smart dials system allows for quick access to various car and infotainment functions. Skoda has also adopted the new range structure with design selections, which is already familiar from the Enyaq electric vehicle. This allows customers to order themed option packs as well as individual options.
