Ferrari 250 GTO and Pink Floyd's Financial Connection

Nick Mason, the drummer from Pink Floyd, recently took AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson for a ride in his Ferrari 250 GTO, and lucky for us, there's a video capturing the experience. It's not every day that you get to witness two rock 'n roll legends hopping into a legendary Ferrari and going for a thrilling drive. What makes this even more exciting is the fact that Mason's car is an authentic 250 GTO, not a replica, and it has an interesting financial connection to Pink Floyd.

Back in 1978, Mason purchased the Ferrari 250 GTO for a mere £35,000. As one of the founding members of Pink Floyd, he was enjoying the success of the band. Little did he know that this sports car from Maranello would turn out to be a fantastic investment. Today, the car is valued at a staggering £40 million.

However, the story doesn't end there. Mason actually used his beloved Ferrari as collateral so that Pink Floyd could borrow money for their A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. This tour consisted of a massive schedule of 198 shows from September 1987 to June 1990. Despite doubts from some, Pink Floyd managed to make the tour a financial success, and Mason got to keep his cherished car.

For those concerned about Mason driving such a valuable car on wet roads, it should be noted that he is used to it. After all, he resides in England, where rain is a common occurrence. In fact, Mason revealed that he drives the car in traffic and even used it to transport his daughters to their weddings. It's certainly a more memorable alternative to a traditional limousine.

The video featuring Mason and Johnson is an excerpt from the television series A Life On The Road, which stars Brian Johnson. Although the full episodes may be difficult to access, you can find clips from other episodes on Johnson's YouTube account.

If you're a fan of classic cars, rock legends, and thrilling rides, this video is definitely worth checking out.
