Ford F-150 Lightning Discount

Ford is currently offering its largest discount yet on the F-150 Lightning, providing a $7,500 reduction for buying or leasing. This incentive was introduced last week and is combined with the $7,500 federal tax credit that some customers may be eligible for. As a result, certain F-150 Lightning trims can have up to $15,000 in savings.

The incentives, running until January 2, are particularly beneficial for the F-150 Lightning Platinum range-topping model. Buyers can choose between $7,500 in Retail Customer Cash or the same amount in Red Carpet Lease Customer Cash. However, it's important to note that the Platinum model does not qualify for the $7,500 tax credit due to its starting MSRP of $91,995, which exceeds the Inflation Reduction Act price cap of $80,000 for SUVs, trucks, and vans.

The best deal available is for the F-150 Lightning Lariat, which offers a $7,500 purchase discount or a $5,000 discount for leasing. With a starting price of $69,995, eligible customers can save up to $15,000, including the $7,500 tax credit, resulting in an effective price of approximately $55,000 after savings.

In addition to these discounts, Ford also provides a $1,500 incentive for purchasing or leasing the F-150 Lightning XLT. However, the base F-150 Lightning Pro does not receive any discounts at all.

These discounts come at a time when Ford is ramping up F-150 Lightning production at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan. The company aims to achieve an annualized production rate of 150,000 electric trucks by this fall.

Despite these efforts, F-150 Lightning sales have been disappointing. In the third quarter, Ford delivered 3,503 electric pickups to customers, representing a 45% decrease compared to the previous year.

Earlier this month, Ford had to cancel some dealer stock orders for the 2023 F-150 Lightning due to the need for additional quality checks. However, customer orders were not affected by this decision. The automaker has not disclosed the specific nature of the quality issues identified, but it has been confirmed that they are not related to safety.

Ford resumed F-150 Lightning production on August 1 after a six-week shutdown to expand and retool the facility, with the aim of tripling manufacturing capacity.
