Free charging for electric cars nationwide.

Tesla is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its first Supercharger station in Europe by offering free charging on all electric vehicles today. This initiative is not limited to Tesla owners, as all EV owners can take advantage of the free charging from 8am until the end of the day, with the latest charging time being 10.59pm.

The first Supercharger station in Europe opened in Norway on August 29, 2013. Since then, the Supercharger network has expanded to 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with over a thousand sites and 13,000 individual Superchargers. Tesla proudly claims that it has the largest ultra-fast charging network in Europe, with more than 9,200 Superchargers and 660 stations that accept all EVs.

This one-day-only free charging initiative is part of Tesla's 'electric summer' celebrations and serves as a token of appreciation to the Tesla community. Tesla acknowledges the contributions of its community in making the Supercharger network the largest, most reliable, and one of the best fast charging networks in Europe.

The Supercharger network is open to drivers of all electric cars, regardless of the manufacturer. Tesla sees this as a great opportunity for EV owners to test the network and expand their charging options. Over 70% of the network is now accessible to all EVs, providing a significant charging infrastructure.

Recently, Tesla launched its latest V4 Supercharger in the UK, designed for all electric vehicles with CCS compatibility. The first V4 Supercharger, located at the Tesla Centre Tottenham, features a three-meter charging cable and a contactless card payment terminal. These V4 Superchargers aim to enable non-Tesla owners to enjoy the benefits of the Tesla Supercharger network, including 99.5% uptime and 250kW charging speeds.

James Court, the CEO of the Electric Vehicles Association, expressed excitement about the rollout of the new V4 Superchargers and the increasing accessibility of existing sites to all electric vehicles in the UK. He sees this as a great benefit for all EV drivers, given the widespread coverage and reliability of the Supercharger network.

Decarbonisation Minister Jesse Norman also praised Tesla's investment in EV charging infrastructure, stating that it plays a crucial role in the UK's transition to a prosperous green economy. The government has been working to make owning an electric vehicle easier, and private investments like Tesla's are essential in driving the change towards sustainable transportation.
