Investigation into Prigozhin's plane crash considers deliberate malicious intent

According to Russia's state media TASS, the Kremlin has stated that a "premeditated villainous act" is one of the lines of inquiry being pursued in the investigation into the plane crash that resulted in the death of Wagner Private Military Company (PMC) chief Yevgeny Prigozhin. The official findings of the investigation being carried out by the Investigative Committee of Russia are still pending.

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to a media query about the possibility of an international dimension in the investigation. Peskov acknowledged that there are different lines of inquiry but emphasized that the investigation is entirely Russian and there is no international aspect on the agenda.

The funeral of Yevgeny Prigozhin was held privately in a closed format, as reported by CNN. The specific date of the funeral was not disclosed by Concord Management, the company owned by Prigozhin. Images analyzed by CNN showed that Prigozhin was buried next to his father, with a headstone indicating his father's name and years of birth and death.

Yevgeny Prigozhin was confirmed dead by Russian investigators on August 27, following the plane crash on August 23. Prigozhin, who was once referred to as President Vladimir Putin's "personal chef," had previously led an armed insurrection against Putin. He had criticized the country's military leadership over their handling of the Ukraine war.

It is important to await the official findings of the investigation before drawing any conclusions about the circumstances surrounding the plane crash and the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin.
