Investigation: Ram Truck Crashes Reach Over a Million

We can find detailed user issues on the NHTSA website. One owner from Trenton, ME, shares their experience with their vehicle's EPS cutting out intermittently. They mention that sometimes the power steering is there and sometimes it's not. The owner looked up the issue online and found that other vehicles from the same year and manufacturer have the same problem and have been recalled, but not their vehicle.

An even more concerning testimonial comes from an owner from Monroe, GA. They describe a situation where their truck lost steering power completely, leaving them with no control over the steering. Fortunately, they were able to stop without wrecking.

In a related matter, a "do not drive" advisory was recently issued for 29,000 units of the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks due to Takata Airbag recalls.

Regarding the power steering issues with the Ram 1500s, the NHTSA's investigation is still ongoing, and a decision regarding a potential recall has not yet been determined. However, the agency urges owners of the affected vehicles to promptly report any power steering issues they encounter.
