Renault Group and Volvo Group have announced a new partnership to develop electric vans. This partnership will also include CMA CGM and will focus on building vehicles on a new fully-electric LCV skateboard platform. The platform is designed to offer modularity to support different vehicle body types.

The partnership plans to design the new vehicles around software that will provide unprecedented capability for monitoring delivery activities. This software will enable logistics companies to reduce operating costs by 30%. The first vehicles from this partnership are expected to be available in 2026.

Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo expressed excitement about leading the transformation in the LCV market through electrification and digitalization. He also mentioned the pride in working with Volvo Group and the anticipation of CMA CGM joining the company. De Meo described the new company as a combination of the complementary assets of three champions: a leading truck maker, an expert in tailored services, and a European EV pioneer & LCV leader.

Volvo Group president and CEO Martin Lundstedt emphasized the importance of sustainable transport solutions. He stated that Volvo Group is keen to offer complete transport solutions that help customers decarbonize their value chains. Lundstedt also highlighted the growing demand for clean, efficient, and safe urban transportation and the importance of partnership and collaboration in achieving this goal.
