Rock damages BMW windscreen on PIE
【Summary】A rock randomly fell on a BMW car along PIE, breaking the windscreen. The incident was captured on dashcam and shared with Mothership. The origin of the rock is unknown. The windscreen shattered and glass shards were found all over the vehicle. The driver was unharmed, but the cost of replacing the windscreen is estimated to be over S$300.
A bizarre incident occurred on September 18, 2023, when a 51-year-old man was driving his BMW along the PIE (Pan-Island Expressway) towards Bukit Batok Ave 6. Out of nowhere, a rock plummeted onto his windscreen, causing a significant crack near the driver's seat.
The entire incident was captured on the vehicle's dashcam and later shared with Mothership by the man's daughter, who goes by the surname Lee. The video showed a small rock falling onto senior Lee's vehicle at approximately 4:40 pm last Monday while he was passing under a flyover. However, it remains unclear where exactly the rock originated from.
The impact of the rock caused the windscreen glass to shatter immediately, leaving tiny fragments of glass scattered all over the front panel of the car. Another video shared by Lee displayed glass shards scattered across the passenger seats in both the front and back rows.
Fortunately, the driver escaped unharmed, although his family discovered some glass shards in his hair and clothes after the incident. Despite the inconvenience, the family plans to claim the cost of replacing the windscreen from their insurance company, which is estimated to be more than S$300.
The incident has left everyone puzzled as to where the rock came from. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the rock and how it managed to fall onto the moving vehicle. Until then, this unusual occurrence remains a mystery.
Images of the incident were shared by Mothership readers, further highlighting the astonishing nature of the event.
