The car features a high-capacity, liquid-cooled 120kWh battery and is powered by four independent electric motors.
Automobili Pininfarina has unveiled the new B95, an electric hypercar with a roofless design that aims to challenge the perception that electric cars can't be sexy. The B95 is being hailed as the world's first pure-electric, open-top hyper Barchetta, with a 0-to-60mph acceleration time of under two seconds and a top speed of over 186mph. However, only 10 examples will be produced, each costing €4.4million without options, making it more expensive than a Bugatti Chiron.
The B95 is the result of a merger between Pininfarina SpA and Automobili Pininfarina, and it features a flowing open-topped bodywork that contrasts with exquisite technical details. The hypercars will be delivered in 2025, which also marks the 95th anniversary of Pininfarina SpA. The name 'B' stands for barchetta, the Italian term for a small open-topped car.
At the heart of the B95 is a state-of-the-art electric powertrain, powered by a high-capacity, liquid-cooled 120kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery can be charged using DC fast chargers, with the fastest chargers capable of boosting capacity from 20 to 80% in just 25 minutes. The B95 is equipped with four independent electric motors, one driving each wheel, and it offers five different driving modes with full torque vectoring technology.
The design of the B95 is considered to be one of its standout features, with swooping bodywork that creates a muscular appearance. The car has no roof or windscreen, but it features electronically adjustable aero screens that enhance the open-top driving experience. The interior of the B95 is described as a blend of classic race car design and futuristic elements, with a central digital instrument cluster and screens flanking the steering wheel.
The B95 is being produced in limited numbers to ensure exclusivity, with each car being meticulously curated by Pininfarina. The company will deliver the first models in 2025, and the price starts at €4.4million. Paolo Pininfarina, chairman of Pininfarina SpA, described the B95 as elegant, bold, beautiful, and innovative, embodying the essence of a true Pininfarina design.
Overall, the B95 represents a new dimension of driving experience, combining exceptional performance with stunning open-top form. It is a statement of intent for Automobili Pininfarina as it develops its portfolio of luxury electric cars.
