2023 Electric Car Awards: Top EVs and hybrids unveiled in the UK

The winners of the 2023 What Car? Electric Car Awards in the UK were recently announced. Among the most successful brands were BMW, MG, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volkswagen, each winning three awards in various categories for both new and used cars.

Three cars stood out as the most successful models at this year's awards. The MG 5 EV, Porsche Taycan, and Tesla Model 3 all won two awards each. The MG 5 was named Best electric estate car in both the new and used car categories. The Porsche Taycan took home the title of Best new and used performance car, while the Tesla Model 3 was awarded Best new and used executive car.

Another notable winner at the awards was the Volkswagen ID Buzz. After being named the overall What Car? Car of the Year in January, it also won the award for Best electric MPV. Volkswagen also received recognition for the ID 3, which was named Best used electric family car, and the Passat GTE, which won Best used hybrid estate car.

For those looking for an affordable electric or hybrid car, the MG 4 EV SE was named the most affordable winner at the awards. It is currently available for purchase at a price of £26,397 through What Car?'s free online New Car Buying service.

The Reader Award, which was decided by a public vote on What Car?'s social media channels, went to the Renault 5 electric hatchback. Voters were asked to choose the upcoming electric model they were most excited about from a shortlist of 12 cars.
