2023 Hyundai i20 updates: Turbo petrol absence, price changes, different models

The 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift has been launched by Hyundai with a starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh, ex-showroom. This new version of the i20 comes with various new variants and features, but it is now only available with a single-engine petrol option.

Hyundai has made the decision to discontinue the 1-litre turbo petrol engine for the 2023 i20. Instead, it will only be available with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This move allows Hyundai to aggressively price the premium hatchback and compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The 2023 i20 is offered with two transmission options, a 5-speed manual and a CVT (iVT) automatic, with different power outputs of 82bhp and 87bhp respectively. Both options have the same torque of 114.7Nm.

The 2023 i20 is available in four main variants - Era, Magna, Sportz, and Asta. These variants can also be further customized with dual-tone trims. Hyundai has also introduced a new entry-level variant called the Era. All five variants come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the Sportz and Asta variants offer the option of a CVT automatic. The i20 is available in six solid colors and the Sportz and Asta trims also offer two dual-tone options.

Hyundai has included a range of safety features in the Era variant, such as six airbags, ABS and EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist control (HAC), vehicle stability management control (VSM), and ISOFIX seats. However, the Era variant does not come with an infotainment system. The other variants, Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta(O), come with additional features such as infotainment systems, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering mounted controls, LED DRLs, rear AC vents, drive modes in CVT, height adjustable driver seat, cruise control, and many more.

The top-of-the-line Asta(O) variant also includes features like a 7-speaker Bose music system, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, a sunroof, a wireless phone charger, leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome finish door handles, and puddle lamps. Furthermore, the Asta(O) variant offers connected telematics, home to car (H2C) with Alexa, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, and height adjustable seat belts for both the driver and passenger.
