2024 Acura ZDX Revealed

The Acura ZDX has made a comeback after being discontinued over a decade ago. However, this time it is not the same swoopy, concept car-like crossover as before. Instead, it has been transformed into a powerful performance EV that marks the beginning of Acura's EV era.

The ZDX is the second Honda/Acura EV resulting from the partnership between Honda and GM, with the other being the Honda Prologue. It utilizes a platform developed jointly by the two companies and is equipped with GM Ultium batteries. Despite these changes, Acura has made sure to maintain its identity throughout.

The 2024 ZDX will be available in two trims: the A-Spec and the Type S. The A-Spec, with a starting price in the $60,000 range, offers options for single-motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations, delivering 340 horsepower. With a near 50/50 weight distribution, low center of gravity, and multi-link suspension setup, the ZDX promises a premium driving experience.

For those seeking all-out electric performance, the ZDX Type S may be the preferred choice. Starting in the $70,000 range, the Type S elevates the ZDX's performance in every aspect, including acceleration, braking, and handling. It boasts a power output of 500 hp and features a height-adjustable air suspension with performance-tuned dampers.

The ZDX comes equipped with impressive features such as 15.6-inch Brembo brakes, 22-inch wheels with self-sealing tires, and selectable drive modes. Acura also promises DC fast charging capability up to 190 kW, allowing the ZDX to be charged quickly and efficiently.

Buyers will have access to Acura Home Electrification, an online marketplace for charging installation. This platform connects ZDX owners with local installers through Expert Energy Advisors, who are pre-vetted and assist owners in finding the best charging solution. Additionally, an Acura app is available for locating charging stations and managing payments.

The exterior design of the ZDX remains faithful to the Precision EV Concept, with only minor differences from the show car version. The interior, while not as impressive as the exterior or the concept, still offers a modern Honda/Acura design. It features a generous amount of screen area, including an 11-inch cluster for the driver and an 11.3-inch screen for the center stack. The usual tech features found in an EV are present, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a native Google system for the infotainment. Safety features and a premium sound system are also included.

Customer deliveries of the ZDX are expected to begin in early 2024.
