2024 Alfa Romeo 'Brennero' SUV leaked

Pictures of Alfa Romeo's upcoming small all-electric SUV have been leaked online ahead of its release in early 2024. This compact electric vehicle, rumored to be called Brennero, will serve as the entry-level car for the Italian automaker. While the name has not been confirmed yet, the new EV will be based on the e-CMP platform, which is shared with the Fiat 600 and Jeep Avenger Stellantis models. Positioned as the smallest model in Alfa's lineup, it will be priced around £35,000, sitting below the Tonale SUV.

The leaked images showcase distinctive Alfa styling elements, including the iconic scudetto grille and phone-dial wheels. Additionally, the baby Alfa shares some exterior components with the Fiat 600 and Jeep Avenger, such as the mirror caps, windshield, and door handles. The front of the vehicle features split LED headlights below a sculpted bonnet, while the small size and short overhangs give it a bold and confident appearance. Inside, the interior images reveal a digital driver's screen similar to other Alfa models, displaying useful information on a central readout.

Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato has further confirmed that the upcoming car in 2024 will be a downsized version of the Tonale, designed to compete in Europe's thriving small SUV segment. Imparato expressed confidence in the CMP architecture's ability to deliver the spirited driving dynamics expected from Alfa Romeo vehicles. He emphasized that the driveability and performance of the new EV will be influenced by the tuning done on the Tonale, ensuring it embodies the spirit of an Alfa Romeo.

The small crossover EV will utilize a 54kWh battery/single electric motor setup, similar to the Avenger, providing 154bhp and 260Nm of torque. This powertrain configuration should enable a range of approximately 248 miles, matching the capabilities of the Jeep. Mild-hybrid petrol engines may also be available, although it remains uncertain if they will be offered in the UK. However, Alfa Romeo has announced plans to phase out internal combustion engines by 2027, making the 'Brennero' model exclusively electric.

Furthermore, Alfa Romeo will be the first brand within the Stellantis group to adopt the bespoke all-electric STLA platform technology. An electric model using this platform is scheduled for release in 2025, with another electric vehicle following in 2026. This demonstrates Alfa Romeo's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup and embracing sustainable mobility.
