The Met Office has predicted heavy showers across much of the country today, along with clear spells and cloud in some regions. This comes after a period of thunderstorms and heavy rain that affected many parts of the UK.

While some forecasts are predicting a hot spell for the start of September, with temperatures reaching as high as 28C in some areas, experts have warned of heavy downpours before then. Not all areas are expected to experience the higher temperatures, as Wales and Scotland are predicted to stay cool.

In its own forecast, the Met Office stated that showers are expected for many areas on Friday, with the possibility of heavy rain. However, Scotland is expected to remain largely dry. Over the weekend, the weather is expected to become mostly dry with increasing amounts of sunshine.

From Monday 4 to Wednesday 13 September, the forecast predicts mostly dry conditions with some sunshine and light winds, especially in the south. The northwest is expected to be cloudier and windy with showers. High pressure is expected to be close by for much of the UK during this period, resulting in fine and dry weather for central parts. However, lighter winds may allow for some overnight mist and fog.

The Met Office recently issued an update on the potential for an Indian Summer in September. After a summer of heavy rainfall and storms, the forecast suggests that the settled pattern is likely to continue into the second half of September. Southern areas may still be at risk of occasional showers and thunderstorms, while eastern areas could experience above-average rainfall. Western regions, on the other hand, may be somewhat drier than normal. Overall, temperatures are expected to be slightly higher than average for late September.

Today's weather forecast includes cloud and rain moving northeastwards across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Scotland and northeast England are expected to stay dry with sunny spells. It will feel cool under the cloud and rain, but humidity will increase in southwest England later in the day.

Tonight, there will be further outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, across southern England and Wales. The rest of the country will be generally cloudy, with some showery rain at times. Northeast Scotland will experience colder temperatures under the clearest skies.

On Friday, the weather will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Central and southeastern parts of England can expect heavy showers. Scotland is likely to see the best of any sunshine. The south will feel rather humid.
