The New Zealand government had implemented a bold plan to increase the tax on utes and SUVs in order to fund rebates on electric cars. This plan had been in effect since July 2021.
However, Australian policymakers have now ruled out this plan. They have decided not to follow New Zealand's lead in increasing taxes on these types of vehicles.
