Bentley Mulsanne returns to Crewe

A unique and newsworthy event has taken place in the world of luxury cars. The final Bentley Mulsanne ever made has been unveiled, and it holds a special significance. Not only was it the last Mulsanne to be handbuilt at the prestigious Crewe factory, but it also served as transport for none other than Queen Elizabeth II herself. Now retired from Royal duties, this Bentley will join the esteemed 45-car heritage fleet of the brand.

It is well-known that the late Queen had a fondness for Bentley cars. In fact, a few years ago, another one of Her Majesty's Mulsannes was put up for sale. The new Mulsanne being showcased follows a similar color combination as the previous one, maintaining its timeless appeal. The exterior is adorned in solid Barnato Green with chrome brightwork, while the interior features Twine and Cumbrian Green accents, complemented by elegant Burr Walnut veneers. Furthermore, this particular model boasts an Extended Wheelbase, adding to its luxurious allure.

However, this Mulsanne is far from ordinary. Given its special purpose as the Queen's personal transport, several modifications were made. The front centre armrest was removed to make space for a tray to carry the Queen's handbag, a unique and unexpected feature. Additionally, rear privacy curtains were added, ensuring the utmost discretion during travel. Notably, the UK's coat of arms is proudly displayed inlaid in the door waistrails, symbolizing the vehicle's royal connection. And of course, there are the more official additions such as lights, sirens, and a bullhorn, cleverly concealed beneath a walnut-veneered door behind the gearlever.

This final Mulsanne will now take its rightful place in Bentley's esteemed Heritage Collection, alongside the second Mulsanne ever built and a later Speed model. Enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to experience this exceptional car firsthand. Unfortunately, there are currently no Mulsannes available for sale with a similar specification. However, there are still a few Mulsannes of interest on the market, considering that over 7,000 were produced. For those seeking a taste of luxury, the Speed model offers an enticing option at a price comparable to that of an M2. Alternatively, for maximum opulence, the Extended Wheelbase variant is available, albeit at a higher cost.
