An employee at a car dealership in Scotland has confessed to stealing over £12,000 from his workplace. Gordon Thomson, 54, embezzled the money from the Lloyd Land Rover showroom in Kelso between April and May 2019. Court documents revealed that Thomson held a position of trust at the dealership when he committed the offense.
Thomson, who resides in East Lothian, appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court where he pleaded guilty to embezzling £12,350 from the dealership. The dealership is part of the Car Dealer Top 100 group Lloyd Motors. In light of the circumstances, Sheriff Peter Paterson postponed the sentencing for six months, allowing Thomson the opportunity to repay the full amount. The money was taken in separate amounts.
Thomson is scheduled to return to court on February 26. However, the sheriff made it clear that even upon his return, Thomson will face consequences for his actions. The severity of the punishment will be determined at the sentencing hearing.
