China's JAC Develops Tesla Semi Replica
【Summary】Chinese manufacturer JAC appears to have developed a near-clone of the all-electric Tesla Semi truck. Photos of the JAC prototype show clear similarities in terms of overall shape, dimensions, and features such as a large windshield and headlights positioned in the same spot. The JAC prototype also has a centrally-mounted seat and two large screens on either side of the steering wheel, similar to the Tesla Semi.
The all-electric Tesla Semi has attracted the attention of a Chinese manufacturer, which seems to have developed a similar truck that could go into production. Photos of the prototype were taken at a facility owned by JAC Motors, known for building passenger cars and operating a joint venture with VW. The prototype shares many similarities with the Tesla Semi, including the overall shape of the cab and the large windshield that seamlessly extends across the A-pillars.
The headlights of the JAC prototype are positioned in a similar spot to the Tesla Semi, just ahead of the front wheel arches. The front end angle is also reminiscent of the Semi. One noticeable difference is that the JAC prototype has a window or possibly a solar panel above the windshield, which the Tesla Semi lacks. The prototype also features digital wing mirrors, while the road-going Semi has traditional mirrors.
The cabin of the JAC prototype reveals a centrally-mounted seat, similar to the Tesla Semi. Additionally, there are two large screens on either side of the steering wheel, mirroring the Tesla's design.
