Compact Electric SUV Confirmed for Cadillac in 2025
【Summary】Cadillac has confirmed the launch of the compact electric SUV, Optiq, in 2025. It will join the automaker's lineup below the Lyriq and Escalade IQ. The Optiq will feature Cadillac's signature design elements and is expected to have a range of around 300 miles and fast-charging capabilities. Pricing and release date details have not been revealed yet, but it is estimated to start in the low to mid-$50,000 range.
Cadillac is ramping up its electric vehicle (EV) development thanks to General Motors' investments in electrification. The automaker has confirmed that another gas-free model, called the Optiq, will be joining its lineup in 2025. The Optiq will be a compact electric SUV, positioned below the Lyriq and flagship Escalade IQ.
While Cadillac has not shared many details about the Optiq, they have provided an image of the upcoming EV. The design features the brand's signature vertical LED running lights and a muscular shape that resembles the larger Lyriq. The C- and D-pillars have a blacked-out style, giving the roof a floating appearance.
General Motors' Ultium technology has enabled its brands to create a diverse range of EVs, and the Optiq seems to be similar in size and shape to the recently released Equinox EV. The Optiq, like the Lyriq, Escalade IQ, and Celestiq EVs, will utilize the same underlying technologies. It is expected to have a range estimate of around 300 miles and will offer fast-charging capabilities.
While pricing and a specific release date have not been disclosed by Cadillac, they have mentioned that the Optiq will serve as a new entry point to the brand's electric vehicle line. Considering that the base Lyriq Tech trim starts at just under $59,000, it is reasonable to expect the Optiq to have a starting price in the low to mid-$50,000 range.
