EGO's electric motorcycle powered by tool batteries

EGO POWER, known for its electric lawn care tools, is now introducing something more exciting - an electric mini bike. The EGO POWER+ Mini Bike utilizes the company's interchangeable lithium-ion battery packs, allowing users to experience the thrill of riding with the same batteries that power their leaf blowers.

However, it's important to note that this mini bike is not street legal and is best suited for dirt trails and off-road riding. With a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), it would be difficult to keep up with traffic on most roads.

Instead of using the mini bike for commuting, riders are more likely to enjoy off-road adventures with its adorable little off-road tires.

The mini bike is powered by two 56V 7.5Ah ARC Lithium batteries from EGO, providing a maximum range of up to 18 miles (29 km) with 840 Wh of battery capacity. It offers three riding modes - Eco, Normal, and Sport - and the 18-mile range is likely measured in Eco mode. Additionally, it features a reverse mode, which is handy considering the bike's size.

Despite its toy-like appearance, the mini bike is well-equipped. It boasts full suspension and hydraulic brakes, ensuring a decent ride for a vehicle made from lawn mower parts.

While we don't know the exact power of the rear hub motor, reaching 28 mph (45 km/h) on a mini bike of this size is undoubtedly exhilarating.

The price and release date of this mini bike have yet to be announced. Limited information and images are available, leaving us with only a rough mockup of what it might look like on a trail. EGO promises that it will be available "soon."

Although this is not the first electric mini bike on the market, it is the first to utilize lawn mower batteries for power. Other electric mini bikes have been designed for road use, such as Tromox's small electric motorcycles and CSC's City Slicker. Even Honda has shown interest in the market, patenting a compact electric Grom motorcycle.

An off-road mini bike like the EGO POWER+ Mini Bike can provide a great deal of fun, especially for those with access to open land. With swappable batteries, the 18-mile range can be extended as much as desired.

Just make sure not to deplete all your battery packs on the same day you need to mow your lawn, or else that task will remain on your to-do list.
