Electric motorbike powered by EGO's innovative battery technology
【Summary】EGO POWER has introduced an electric mini bike that runs on its swappable lithium-ion battery packs. The EGO POWER+ Mini Bike has a top speed of 28 mph and a maximum range of 18 miles. While it is not street legal, it offers off-road fun with full suspension and hydraulic brakes. The price and launch date are yet to be announced. With its interchangeable batteries, the range can be extended for longer rides.
EGO POWER is well-known for its electric lawn care tools, including mowers, string trimmers, and chain saws. However, the company has recently introduced something that stands out from its work-focused catalog - an electric mini bike. The EGO POWER+ Mini Bike utilizes the same lithium-ion battery packs found in their leaf blowers, allowing riders to experience the thrill of flying over jumps.
It's important to note that this mini bike is not street legal and should only be used on dirt trails and off-road riding areas. With a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h), it would be difficult to keep up with traffic on most roads.
Rather than using this mini bike for commuting, riders are more likely to enjoy slinging dirt around with its cute little off-road tires.
The mini bike is powered by two 56V 7.5Ah ARC Lithium batteries from EGO, providing a maximum range of up to 18 miles (29 km) with 840 Wh of battery capacity. It offers three riding modes - Eco, Normal, and Sport - and the 18-mile range is most likely achieved in Eco mode. Additionally, it features a reverse mode, which is useful considering the size of the bike.
Although it may appear to be a toy with its small proportions, the mini bike is well-equipped. It boasts full suspension and hydraulic brakes, resulting in a ride that handles decently for a motorcycle made from lawn mower parts.
While it's unclear how powerful the rear hub motor is, reaching 28 mph (45 km/h) on a bike the size of a rocking horse is sure to feel incredibly fast.
Pricing and availability details for this mini bike have not been disclosed yet. Limited information and images are currently available, but it is expected to be released "soon" according to EGO.
This electric mini bike is not the first of its kind, although it is the first to utilize lawn mower batteries for power. Other electric mini bikes have been designed for road use, such as Tromox's small electric motorcycles and CSC's City Slicker. Even Honda has shown interest in the market, with a patent for a small electric Grom motorcycle.
An off-road mini bike like the EGO POWER+ Mini Bike can provide a lot of fun, especially for those who have land to explore. With swappable batteries, the 18-mile range can be extended as far as desired.
Just be careful not to deplete all your battery packs on the same day you need to mow your lawn, or you'll have one task left on your Honey-Do list.
