Fastest Nürburgring Lap Times 2021

The Rimac Nevera has set a new Nürburgring lap record for a production electric car, completing the 12.8-mile circuit in an impressive time of 7 minutes and 5 seconds. This achievement demonstrates that manufacturers can develop electric vehicles that can handle the challenges of the famous track.

Driven by Croatian racing driver Martin Kodrik, the Nevera surpassed the previous record held by the Tesla Model S Track Pack by 20 seconds. The Tesla had posted a time of 7 minutes and 25.231 seconds.

The Nürburgring is known for its demanding circuit and diverse range of corners, making it an ideal testing ground for car manufacturers. Setting a lap record at this track is considered a significant accomplishment, and many manufacturers have dedicated years to refining their vehicles to achieve the fastest time.

The lap records at the Nürburgring can be categorized into various types of cars. The fastest lap times in each category showcase the performance capabilities of different types of vehicles.

It's worth noting that the official length of the Nürburgring lap was increased in 2019. Previously, the lap was measured at 12.8 miles, excluding a short stretch of the T13 straight. However, the track management decided that only the full 12.944-mile lap would be considered for record purposes.

In another impressive feat, the Mercedes-AMG One recently set a new fastest lap for production cars at the Nürburgring. Driven by Mercedes DTM driver Maro Engel, the hypercar completed the circuit in 6 minutes and 35.183 seconds, surpassing the previous record by almost 10 seconds.

The Mercedes-AMG One is often referred to as a Formula 1 car for the road due to its powerful performance. With a modified version of the firm's turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 grand prix engine and four electric motors, it is the most potent road car ever produced by Mercedes-AMG.

Another notable record at the Nürburgring is held by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, equipped with the Manthey Performance Kit. This car completed a lap in 6 minutes and 43.30 seconds, breaking the previous record by 4.747 seconds and achieving an average speed of 115.5 mph.
