【Summary】Skoda has unveiled the all-new generation of the Kodiaq, its largest SUV. The new model features LED Matrix headlights, a head-up display, and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version called the Kodiaq iV. The Kodiaq iV has a combined output of 204hp, can travel over 62 miles on electric power alone, and can be charged at 50kW DC. Other drivetrain options include petrol and diesel engines. The new Kodiaq has a spacious interior, with increased boot space and a higher-tech interface.
Skoda has introduced the all-new generation of the Kodiaq, their largest SUV. The Czech company has been successful in selling nearly 842,000 units worldwide since 2016. The new model comes with several exciting features and options.
One of the main highlights of the new Kodiaq is the availability of LED Matrix headlights and a head-up display (HUD) for the driver. Additionally, one of the petrol engines now comes with 48-volt mild-hybrid (48V MHEV) technology. However, the most significant addition is the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version called the Kodiaq iV.
The Kodiaq iV PHEV uses a 150hp 1.5 TSI turbo petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 25.7kWh battery pack. The combined output of this drivetrain is 204hp. It offers an impressive electric-only range of over 62 miles and can be charged at 50kW DC.
What makes the Kodiaq iV special is its ability to be charged rapidly using a DC connection, which is not common among PHEVs. With a 50kW charger, the battery pack can be fully replenished in about half an hour.
In addition to the PHEV version, the Kodiaq also offers other drivetrain choices. These include a 150hp 1.5 TSI MHEV, a more powerful 204hp 2.0 TSI petrol, and 150hp or 193hp variants of the 2.0 TDI diesel. The higher-output petrol and diesel versions come with four-wheel drive as standard.
While the performance and economy figures for these engines have not been confirmed, they are expected to be similar to the previous Kodiaq models. The Kodiaq iV PHEV is expected to have CO2 emissions well below 50g/km.
The exterior design of the new Kodiaq is an evolution of the previous model, with some subtle changes. The interior features Skoda's new high-tech interface, including a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen and a ten-inch Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster. The cabin also uses sustainable and recycled materials, and there is a wireless smartphone charging pad that can charge two devices simultaneously.
Overall, the new Skoda Kodiaq offers a range of options and features, including a PHEV version with impressive electric range and rapid charging capability. With its spacious interior and advanced technology, it is set to continue the success of its predecessor.
