Luxury in Toyota's Priciest Model
【Summary】Toyota's most expensive vehicle, the Capstone edition of the Sequoia SUV, offers luxurious features and technological options. With a base price of almost $80,000, it includes extras like an air suspension package. Despite the high price, the less popular model sold only a little over 5,000 units in 2022.
Toyota is the best-selling auto brand in the United States, with almost two million vehicles sold in 2022. While crossover and passenger car models like the RAV4, Camry, and Corolla were Toyota's top sellers, the 90-year old Japanese automaker also enjoyed robust sales performance in the truck and SUV categories with the Tacoma and Highlander — selling more than 200,000 of each of those models domestically last year.
However, one of Toyota's less popular choices was the full-sized Sequoia SUV, which only sold a little more than 5,000 units in 2022. This could be attributed to its estimated fuel economy of 20 MPG and a base price of nearly $60,000. Despite its lackluster sales, Toyota still offers a luxury trim version of the Sequoia called the "Capstone" edition.
The Capstone edition of the Sequoia comes with added luxury features and technological options, aiming to make the behemoth SUV more comfortable and enjoyable for both the driver and passengers. With these extras, the base price of the Capstone edition reaches almost $80,000. And if you choose to add the available air suspension package, the cost will exceed that threshold due to all the additional features included in this trim.
