A series of teaser images built anticipation for the unveiling of the MG EX4 Concept, a tribute to the iconic MG Metro 6R4 rally car. The concept, based on an electric vehicle, retains elements of a road car while embracing a wild and distinctive design.

To bring this tribute to life, MG collaborated with engineering firm RML, known for their work on the SWB, a homage to the Ferrari 250 GTO. The challenge of creating a fitting tribute using an EV as a base was overcome with their expertise.

MG decided to generate buzz by creating a special one-off show car for the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The EX4 Concept is a wild homage to the legendary Group B MG Metro 6R4, one of the most memorable rally cars of all time.

MG is currently experiencing great success, with record sales in the UK and Europe. Their lineup of family-friendly models, including the MG4, has been well-received, with the MG4 winning the Affordable Electric Car of the Year award.

The EX4 Concept features a prominent front splitter with towering end plates, wide wheel arches, sill-mounted spats, and turbofan-style wheels. The exterior modifications also include a large rear spoiler and a new rear diffuser. The car is finished in white with bright lime green decals, making it impossible to miss.

In addition to displaying the EX4 Concept on a stand, MG wanted to showcase it by running it up the famous Goodwood hillclimb. BTCC driver Daniel Rowbottom was impressed by the car's appearance and envisioned a one-make series for it.

The EX4 Concept garnered significant attention at the Goodwood event, even surpassing the interest in the Cyberster, another MG vehicle on display. The EX4 draws inspiration from the MG4 XPower road car and boasts a combined 429bhp from its motors, allowing for a 0-62mph sprint time of 3.8 seconds.

Rowbottom describes driving the EX4 as an exhilarating experience, with the ability to easily spin all four wheels. While lacking the noise of its predecessor, the MG Metro 6R4, the EX4 Concept makes up for it with its striking appearance.

Although MG currently has no plans to produce the EX4 Concept, Rowbottom, recognizing its motorsport potential, hopes to see it in a one-make championship or even competing in World Rallycross.

Overall, the MG EX4 Concept pays homage to the MG Metro 6R4 while embracing the future of electric vehicles, leaving a lasting impression on those who encounter it.
