Renault Group and Volvo Group have announced a new partnership to develop electric vans. Joining the partnership is CMA CGM, and together they will build vehicles on a new fully-electric LCV skateboard platform. This platform is designed to provide a high level of modularity to support different vehicle body types.

The partnership claims that the new vehicles will be designed around software that offers unprecedented capability for monitoring delivery activities. This software will enable logistics companies to reduce operating costs by 30%. The first vehicles from this partnership are expected to be available in 2026.

Renault Group CEO, Luca de Meo, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that electrification and digitalization are paving the way for a revolution in the LCV market. He also mentioned that Renault Group aims to lead this transformation while creating value. De Meo emphasized the unique combination of assets from the three champions involved in this new company: a leading truck maker, an expert in tailored services, and a European EV pioneer & LCV leader.

Martin Lundstedt, Volvo Group president and CEO, highlighted the importance of partnership and collaboration in achieving sustainable transport solutions. Lundstedt stated that Volvo Group is keen to offer complete transport solutions that help their customers decarbonize their value chains. He also expressed excitement about taking another step towards clean, efficient, and safe urban transportation through the establishment of the new company.
