Modular Mini BEV Allows Custom 3D-Printed Additions

At the Japan Mobility Show 2023, Daihatsu Motor presents four concept cars, including me:MO, a mini passenger Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) whose modular interior and exterior are designed to how the driver wants them to be. A fun part in the design process – which is also exhibited in the show – is that me:MO can also be fitted with 3D-printed car parts. If the driver wants to customize their own parts and designs using 3D-printing technology, it appears that Daihatsu's mini electric vehicle is more than capable of making that request come true. So whatever interior and exterior the driver wants, Daihatsu's mini passenger Battery Electric Vehicle gets.

For the Japan Mobility Show 2023, Daihatsu Motor has adopted the theme ‘redefining the relationship between cars and people' for its four concept cars, including me:MO. The car company envisions its mini passenger Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) as a journey that evolves with the owner. If, at any point, they decide to change the design of their electric car to better suit their personal needs, they can do so, allowing for customization on the go. As seen in the video, the spacious interior can be remodeled to either provide a single seat for the owner with the remaining space for belongings or to add more seats for a family-oriented vehicle.

Daihatsu Motor states, ‘We changed the way cars were manufactured and made it possible to modify not only the design but also the form of the vehicle by constructing a modular structure of interior and exterior parts with necessary and sufficient functionality. This has allowed us to create a sustainable car that can be used for an extended period. Its style and sense of enjoyment can be adapted to different stages of life.'

At the Japan Mobility Show 2023, me:MO is on display between October 26th and November 5th at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, alongside three other concept cars namely the mini commercial truck ‘UNIFORM Truck', the open-air mini BEV and cruiser ‘OSANPO,' and another open coupe dubbed ‘VISION COPEN.'

Daihatsu's me:MO can be fitted with 3D-printed car parts, allowing for further customization and personalization. The mini passenger Battery Electric Vehicle is tailored to the driver's preferences, giving them the freedom to create their own unique design. With its modular interior and exterior, the me:MO allows for easy modification and adaptation to different stages of life. Whether it's a single seat for a solo journey or additional seats for a family-oriented vehicle, Daihatsu's mini electric car can be customized to suit the owner's needs. This level of personalization sets Daihatsu's me:MO apart and makes it a truly unique and versatile electric vehicle.
