Munro's initial batch of cars almost finished

Munro Vehicles, the Scottish manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, is making significant progress in completing its first vehicles for customers. The factory in East Kilbride has received over 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models, and the company expects the volume to increase further from target markets in mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense.

The company recently invited 61 investors, deposit holders, and supporters to witness the production of the first light vehicle in Scotland in over four decades. Conservative MSP Graham Simpson, who is part of the Scottish Parliament's Sustainable Transport and Energy Efficiency groups, expressed his fascination with Munro Vehicles and its potential impact. He believes that the all-electric 4x4s could be the solution for sectors such as agriculture, forestry, and wind turbine management, which are more challenging to decarbonize. Simpson also highlighted the potential for job creation within the company and the wider supply chain.

Russell Peterson, the CEO and Co-Founder of Munro, expressed his pride in the engineering and passion that goes into building these all-terrain electric vehicles. He was delighted to welcome MSP Graham Simpson to their headquarters and showcase Scottish innovation in sustainable transport.

The first two customer vehicles, known as Founder Editions, are currently being hand-built in Munro's East Kilbride headquarters. The first vehicle is a truck, constructed to Munro's Range specification, with 220kW of power, 600Nm of torque, an estimated range of 190 miles, and a 2.5-tonne braked towing weight. The second vehicle is a pick-up, equipped with a 280kW battery, 700Nm of torque, a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, and an estimated range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 features an 82.4kWh battery and can be rapidly recharged from 15% to 80% battery capacity in just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. With a fully charged battery, the vehicle can operate off-road for up to 16 hours, providing a range of over 190 miles.
