The Toyota Land Cruiser is set to undergo a radical transformation for the electric era, as showcased by a new concept car that will be unveiled at the Tokyo motor show. Known as the Land Cruiser Se, this futuristic SUV will be joined by other highly anticipated debuts such as the FT-SE sports car and FT-3E crossover on Toyota's stand.

The design of the Land Cruiser Se concept represents a departure from the traditional Land Cruiser nameplate. While the upcoming production Land Cruiser retains a retro look inspired by previous models, the concept emphasizes aerodynamic efficiency and features a rakish roofline, angled bonnet, and sculpted sides. The inclusion of slimline wraparound light bars, rear-view cameras, and low-profile tires suggest a more luxurious appeal.

Several design cues seen in the Land Cruiser Se concept are shared with the FT-3E SUV concept, which was recently previewed by Toyota. This suggests that the two vehicles will have similar styling, interior arrangements, and performance statistics.

Toyota's Tokyo show stand will showcase its next-generation lineup of electric cars, which are expected to be available from 2026. The Land Cruiser Se, FT-SE, and FT-3E concepts are likely to evolve into production cars that form part of this range. The brand has stated that its next-generation cars will feature slimmer battery packs to increase interior space and promote aerodynamic styling. These cars are expected to offer a range of 621 miles, thanks to advanced lithium-ion technology.
