Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail: The Priciest New Car

Rolls-Royce has unveiled a one-of-a-kind car called 'La Rose Noire', which is the world's most expensive and exclusive new car. The car was commissioned by a super-rich couple from a prominent international family with a deep connection to France. The car is inspired by the Black Baccara Rose, which is beloved by the mother of the commissioning family. The car changes color depending on how it is viewed and is described as a romantic celebration of the couple who created it. There will only be four Droptail models produced in total.

The car was presented to the client and her family at a private event during Monterey Car Week in California. The identity of the client has not been revealed, but there are some clues that suggest their potential identity, including their love for cars, fashion, art, and champagne. The car was designed in close cooperation with the client and her family and represents their passion for detail and glamour distilled.

The La Rose Noire Droptail has many personalized touches and details, including a removable low-slung hard-top that can transform the car from an open-top roadster to a coupe. The car also features a specially created shade of dark red paint called 'True Love', which took 150 iterations to perfect. The interior of the car includes intricate wood parquetry inlays representing stylized rose petals, a removable luxury timepiece from Audemars Piguet, and a Rolls-Royce champagne chest and cooler.

The car is a nod to the coachbuilt cars of the early 20th century, with its raised rear tail and shallow windscreen. It is powered by a 593bhp 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine and has a top speed of 155mph. The car measures 5.3 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 1.5 meters in height. The Droptail is one of only four models to be built, each with unique styling and bespoke details chosen by the individual clients.

The car's paintwork is inspired by the Black Baccara Rose, with a base coat and five layers of clear lacquer blended with different tones of red. The removable roof features an electrochromic glass section that can darken or stay clear at the touch of a button. The interior of the car is adorned with a u-shaped wrap-around piece of wood parquetry artwork representing falling rose petals. The seats are covered in a combination of reds and a copper shimmer finish.

The car also features a specially commissioned luxury timepiece from Audemars Piguet, which can be worn as a wristwatch or mounted in the car as a dashboard clock. The car includes a Rolls-Royce champagne chest and cooler, which is made from black anodized aluminum and carbon fiber and carries the clients' special edition Champagne de Lossy.

The car's grille has a dark red paint applied to the reverse surface of each vane, and the Spirit of Ecstasy also receives the same treatment. The car's trim has a dark but reflective finish called 'Hydroshade', which is applied using a chrome electrolyte plating system. The 22-inch alloy wheels have a dark red undertone that is revealed in sunlight.
