Ruf CTR 3 Evo: Tuner's Ultimate Power

German manufacturer Ruf has recently introduced its most powerful car to date, the CTR 3 Evo. This new model, unveiled at Monterey Car Week, is a completely redesigned and heavily upgraded version of the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport, although it stands as a separate offering.

Under the hood, the CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat six engine, producing an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. This represents a bump of 23bhp and 8lb ft compared to the Clubsport. The maximum power is achieved at 7100rpm, while the maximum torque is deployed at 4000rpm.

Presented in the images is a model featuring Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, since the Clubsport can also be equipped with a six-speed manual, it is possible that the Evo will also offer this option.

The body of the CTR 3 Evo is constructed using a Kevlar-composite material, similar to the lightweight and strong Koenigsegg Agera RS. This material is known for its strength, heat resistance, and lightweight properties.

While the exact top speed and 0-62mph time have not been disclosed, it is expected that the Evo will outperform the Clubsport. The Clubsport is capable of reaching a top speed of 236mph and achieving a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds.

In addition to engine tuning, the CTR 3 Evo features several other upgrades. These include modifications to the MacPherson-strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, as well as carbon-ceramic brakes and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system, similar to those found in the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

Inside the CTR 3 Evo, the one-piece body-hugging sports seats are made from carbon fiber and upholstered in Alcantara, with contrasting yellow stitching.

Customers interested in the CTR 3 Evo can place an order for this high-performance vehicle at a cost of over $725,000 (£570,466). This makes it more expensive than the similarly positioned Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the similarly potent Ferrari SF90.
