【Summary】Swedish EV makers, like Polestar, are targeting China's premium EV market. Polestar has partnered with Mobileye to incorporate autonomous driving technology into their Polestar 4 model. The Chengdu Motor Show showcased the Polestar 4 and Polestar 3, setting the foundation for Mobileye's Chauffeur technology. This technology aims to provide hands-free, point-to-point autonomous driving on highways.
In recent years, Swedish electric vehicle makers have been increasingly targeting China's growing premium EV car market. Similarly, Chinese automobile makers like Hongqi have chosen Sweden, Norway, and other Northern European countries as their first destinations to establish R&D facilities and promote their new electric vehicle brands in the European markets.
At the 26th edition of the Chengdu Motor Show, the largest annual auto show in western China, Polestar, a Swedish premium EV maker, announced its partnership with Mobileye. This collaboration aims to incorporate Mobileye's Chauffeur autonomous driving technology into the Polestar 4.
During the Chengdu Motor Show, Polestar showcased two of its electric vehicles: the Polestar 4, a pure electric high-performance SUV, and the Polestar 3, an ultra-luxury pure electric SUV. The Polestar 4, which is the first production car to feature Mobileye's Chauffeur autonomous driving technology, sets the foundation for this technology by integrating a Mobileye SuperVision-based ADAS from the beginning.
Mobileye, a leading producer of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology, has already equipped over 150 million cars worldwide with its systems. Their Chauffeur technology, expected to be launched in the coming years, will enable hands-free, point-to-point autonomous driving on highways, along with eyes-on automated driving for various environments.
