Swedish EV manufacturers target intelligent driving in Chinese market
【Summary】Swedish EV makers, like Polestar, are targeting China's premium EV car market. Polestar has partnered with Mobileye to incorporate their autonomous driving technology into the Polestar 4. The car was showcased at the Chengdu Motor Show and is the first production car to feature Mobileye's Chauffeur technology. This technology will enable hands-free, point-to-point autonomous driving on highways.
In recent years, there has been a growing focus from Swedish electric vehicle makers on China's premium EV car market. On the other hand, Chinese automobile makers like Hongqi have chosen Sweden, Norway, and other Northern European countries as their first destinations to establish R&D facilities and promote their new electric vehicle brands in the European markets.
During the 26th edition of the Chengdu Motor Show, which is the largest annual auto show in western China, Polestar, a Swedish premium electric vehicle (EV) maker, announced a partnership with Mobileye. This collaboration aims to incorporate Mobileye's Chauffeur autonomous driving technology into the Polestar 4.
At the Chengdu Motor Show, Polestar showcased two of its electric SUV models: the Polestar 4, a pure electric high-performance SUV, and the Polestar 3, an ultra-luxury pure electric SUV. The Polestar 4 is particularly noteworthy as it is the first production car to feature Mobileye's Chauffeur autonomous driving technology. This technology is based on Mobileye's SuperVision-based ADAS and sets the foundation for future advancements.
Polestar's presence at the Chengdu Motor Show highlights the company's commitment to the Chinese market and its dedication to innovation in the electric vehicle sector. With Mobileye's advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology, which is already installed in over 150 million cars worldwide, and the upcoming Chauffeur technology, which promises hands-free, point-to-point autonomous driving on highways, Polestar is poised to offer cutting-edge features to its customers.
