Bentley Mulsanne returns to Crewe

A unique and newsworthy event has occurred with the final Bentley Mulsanne ever made. Not only was it handbuilt at Crewe, but it also served as transportation for Queen Elizabeth II. Now retired from her Royal duties, the Bentley Mulsanne will join Bentley's prestigious 45-car heritage fleet.

It is well known that the late Queen had a fondness for Bentleys, as evidenced by another one of her Mulsannes being sold a couple of years ago. This new Mulsanne shares a similar color combination to the previous one, maintaining a great spec. The exterior is a solid Barnato Green with chrome brightwork, while the interior features Twine and Cumbrian Green accents, along with Burr Walnut veneers. Additionally, this model has an Extended Wheelbase.

However, this Mulsanne is not your average dark green EWB variant. It has been modified to fulfill its special duty as the Queen's transportation. These modifications include removing the front center armrest to make space for a tray to carry the Queen's handbag, rear privacy curtains, and the UK's coat of arms inlaid in the door waistrails. The vehicle is also equipped with lights, sirens, and a bullhorn, with the switches cleverly concealed beneath a walnut-veneered door behind the gearlever.

As the final Mulsanne ever made, this car will take its place in Bentley's Heritage Collection alongside the second one ever built and a later Speed model. It is unfortunate that there are currently no Mulsannes available for sale with a similar specification, although there are certainly some interesting options on the market. With over 7,000 Mulsannes produced, it is possible to find a Speed model for the price of an M2 or an Extended Wheelbase for those seeking maximum opulence, although the latter option will come at a higher cost.
