Tesla's New Wall Connector Features Innovative "Magic Dock" Adapter

Tesla has recently introduced its Universal Wall Connector, a charging device that can conveniently charge any electric vehicle. The charger is equipped with both a North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug and an Integrated J1772 adapter. One of the key features of the Universal Wall Connector is its ability to view charging history and energy consumption through the Tesla app, which is a feature that can benefit non-Tesla owners as well.

The announcement of the new charger was made by Tesla through social media. The product can be seen in videos and on the Tesla Shop page, where the integrated J1772 adapter is highlighted as its main feature for charging non-Tesla electric vehicles.

Similar to the Magic Dock, which Tesla has implemented in its Supercharger stations to charge non-Tesla electric cars, the Universal Wall Connector offers several innovative functions. The Tesla Shop page provides more information about the charger and its features.

In addition to the integrated J1772 adapter and NACS plug, the Universal Wall Connector has the capability to add 44 miles of range per hour at an output of 11.5 kW/48 amps. It also includes Wi-Fi connectivity for over-the-air software updates.

Furthermore, the Universal Wall Connector provides access to the Tesla App, allowing users to monitor and manage their charging schedule and usage. This feature is not typically found in non-Tesla chargers, making it a useful tool for daily use by electric vehicle owners.

Priced at $595, the Universal Wall Connector is more expensive than Tesla's current Wall Connector, which is priced at $475. However, considering its features and convenience, the product may be well worth the price. Interested buyers can place orders for the Universal Wall Connector, with shipments expected to start in October.
