Three hospitalized after car collides with campsite

Three people are still in the hospital after a car crashed into a campsite in Pembrokeshire, Wales, injuring a total of nine people. The incident occurred at Newgale Campsite on Saturday night. Fortunately, a baby who was sleeping in a cot inside a tent escaped serious injury. The car, a blue Ford Fiesta, veered off the road, went over a ditch, and rolled into the tent where the group of people were located. The campsite, situated alongside a road, was filled with tents at the time of the crash.

The owner of the campsite, Clare Harris, described the car as speeding down the hill and attempting to brake before flipping and rolling several times, eventually crashing into the tent. She expressed relief that the baby inside the tent was unharmed. The campsite owner's husband, Mike Harris, referred to the incident as a tragic accident and praised the quick response of emergency services, including firefighters and two surgeons who were staying at the campsite.

One person was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales, while four others were transported by road. The Welsh Ambulance Service, with assistance from HM Coastguard, dispatched six emergency ambulances, a duty operations manager, a high acuity response unit, and a search and rescue helicopter. The car was believed to be traveling from Roch to St Davids when it crashed off the A487. The road was closed for investigation and reopened the next morning.

Dyfed Powys Police are currently investigating the incident and have stated that three individuals remain in the hospital. No arrests have been made at this time. The police have urged the public not to speculate and have asked witnesses to come forward to provide information about the crash.
