Volkswagen is preparing to unveil a high-end, all-wheel drive variant of its ID. Buzz electric van. This new version, known as the GTX, will join the existing ID.4 GTX and will feature a dual-motor powertrain, giving it a sportier appearance.

Recent spy shots reveal that the GTX will have a redesigned front end, including a modified lower bumper. Additionally, it is expected to have unique wheel design, GTX badging, and exclusive color options to distinguish it from other ID. Buzz models.

The steering wheel of the ID. Buzz GTX has already been shown during a VW investor presentation. Interestingly, it is the same steering wheel used in VW's other MEB platform GTX vehicles, namely the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX.

Similar to its GTX siblings, the ID. Buzz GTX will share a 77kWh battery. However, the power output is expected to increase from 201bhp to 295bhp, while torque will remain at 310Nm. Furthermore, the GTX will feature a four-wheel-drive system, differentiating it from the rear-wheel-drive setup of the standard ID. Buzz.

In terms of performance, the ID. Buzz GTX is anticipated to significantly surpass the regular model's 10.2-second 0-62mph acceleration time. The top speed of 90mph may also see an increase. However, due to the added power and the weight of the extra electric motor on the front axle, the range of 255 miles is likely to be slightly reduced.

Charging the GTX should not be affected, as it will use the same battery as other ID. Buzz variants. It is expected to support 170kW charging, enabling the battery to be charged from 5% to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes.

As the range-topping trim level in Volkswagen's electric lineup, the ID. Buzz GTX is likely to come equipped with all the features found in the current top-spec 1st Edition model, including 21-inch wheels and a 12-inch touchscreen.

The ID. Buzz GTX is expected to join the ID. Buzz lineup in 2023, with pricing details to be announced at a later date.
