Volkswagen is preparing to unveil a high-performance, all-wheel drive version of its ID. Buzz electric van. This new model, called the ID. Buzz GTX, will feature a dual-motor powertrain, similar to the ID.4 GTX, to give it a sportier look and feel.

New spy shots reveal that the ID. Buzz GTX will have a redesigned front end, including a modified lower bumper. The flagship model will also come with unique wheel design, GTX badging, and exclusive color options to set it apart from other versions of the ID. Buzz.

During a recent VW investor presentation, a close-up image of the ID. Buzz GTX steering wheel was shown. Interestingly, it is the same steering wheel used in VW's other MEB platform GTX models, the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX.

Aside from the steering wheel, the ID. Buzz GTX will share other similarities with its GTX siblings. While the standard ID. Buzz has a 77kWh battery, the GTX version is expected to have a power increase from 201bhp to 295bhp, while torque remains at 310Nm. Additionally, the GTX will feature a four-wheel-drive system, similar to the ID.5 GTX.

With the increase in power, the ID. Buzz GTX is expected to offer improved performance, potentially surpassing the standard model's 10.2-second 0-62mph time and 90mph top speed. However, the range of the GTX may be slightly reduced due to the additional power and the weight of the extra electric motor on the front axle.

Charging the ID. Buzz GTX should not be an issue, as it will use the same battery as other versions of the ID. Buzz. It is expected to support 170kW charging, allowing the battery to be charged from five to 80 percent capacity in just 30 minutes.

As the range-topping trim level in Volkswagen's all-electric lineup, the ID. Buzz GTX is likely to come equipped with all the features found in the current top-spec 1st Edition model, including 21-inch wheels and a 12-inch touchscreen.

The ID. Buzz GTX is expected to join the ID. Buzz lineup in 2023, with pricing details to be announced later in the year.
