1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT Scaglietti Auction
【Summary】Keith Richards' 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT Scaglietti, with over 25,000 miles accumulated during Rolling Stones' European tours, is up for auction. The car features classic charm with period-correct modifications and underwent meticulous restoration in 2015.
The story behind this remarkable car is just as captivating as the car itself. In 1972, Keith Richards acquired the Ferrari while in California, and it quickly became a trusted companion during the Rolling Stones' European tours. Richards, known for his rock 'n' roll lifestyle, managed to accumulate an impressive 25,000 miles with the car.
Finished in Argento Metallizzato exterior and Nero Connolly leather interior, the car exudes a classic charm. It is also adorned with Veglia Borletti instrumentation in miles, adding to its timeless appeal. Additionally, the car boasts several period-correct modifications, including a Momo Prototipo steering wheel and a Blaupunkt radio.
In 1986, Richards made the difficult decision to part ways with the beloved Ferrari, selling it to a private collection in Japan. However, in 2014, the car made a triumphant return to Europe and found a new home with Liam Howlett, the co-founder of the EDM band The Prodigy. Under Howlett's care, the car underwent an extensive restoration in 2015. Specialist Joe Macari Performance Cars of London meticulously rebuilt its V6 engine and refreshed the exterior, ensuring that the car regained its former glory.
