Motorist crashes into Canadian border in Niagara Falls

A tragic incident occurred at the US-Canada border in Niagara Falls, where a car explosion claimed the lives of a New York businessman and his wife. The driver, a 56-year-old man, was behind the wheel of a $300,000 Bentley at the time of the incident.

The couple had reportedly visited the Seneca Niagara casino resort before the crash, although they were only there for a brief period. It is believed that they may have stopped at the casino to exchange money.

The car exploded into flames just before 11.30am local time, causing the Rainbow Bridge to be closed during a busy travel period around Thanksgiving. Despite the tragic outcome, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul expressed relief that there were no further injuries.

According to CNN, the couple had plans to attend a Kiss concert in Canada. The man, who hailed from a well-known family in Grand Isle, New York, was said to have had a medical issue.

Authorities have emphasized that there is currently no evidence of terrorism. Governor Hochul stressed the need for caution given the international nature of the incident, but refrained from labeling it an accident until further investigations are conducted.
