2023 Lexus RZ Falls Just Shy of a Home Run
【Summary】The 2023 Lexus RZ is the brand's first electric vehicle, but its driving range of 196-220 miles falls short compared to other EVs. Despite this, the RZ offers a smooth ride, impressive interior, and may still be a suitable choice for some.
Lexus seems to have some reservations about the shift towards battery-powered electric vehicles, which is evident in their latest offering, the Lexus RZ. This luxury brand's first electric vehicle shares the same e-TNGA platform as the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. While the RZ bears a resemblance to the Lexus RX in terms of design, it is smaller and falls into the compact class. With a decent horsepower of 308, the RZ is not lacking in power. However, its 71.4-kilowatt-hour battery only provides a driving range of at least 196 miles, maxing out at 220 miles.
Admittedly, this range may seem limited in 2023. Nevertheless, it is important to note that many electric vehicle drivers often carry around more battery weight than necessary. Despite this, there are certain concerns that give us pause when it comes to recommending the RZ. However, there are numerous advantages to consider, such as the enjoyable ride quality and the exceptional interior found in both trim levels. In the end, the Lexus RZ may still be the perfect electric vehicle for you.
