2024 Ford F-150 Raptor to Receive 700+ Horsepower Upgrade

Ford has recently revealed the refreshed F-150 at NAIAS 2023 and has confirmed that the Raptor variant will be arriving. This new 2024 Raptor pickup truck is said to be the most powerful F-150 ever built.

The Ford F-150 Raptor has always been known for its impressive power. The first generation was introduced in 2010 and came with a standard 5.4-liter V8 engine that produced 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. There was also an optional 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivered 411 horsepower. Both engines were paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. In 2011, Ford decided to discontinue the 5.4-liter V8 and stick with the 6.2-liter unit.

The second generation of the Raptor arrived in 2017, but surprisingly, Ford did not offer a V8 engine for this model. Instead, they equipped it with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, albeit in a detuned version compared to the one found in the Ford GT supercar. This powertrain produced 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque and introduced the 10R80 ten-speed automatic transmission.

In 2021, Ford introduced the third generation of the Raptor, once again featuring the 3.5-liter V6 engine with 450 horsepower, and offering the optional V8 engine in the lineup. Now, for the refreshed F-150, Ford has confirmed that the 5.2-liter Predator supercharged V8 engine will be making a comeback. The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor will have 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque from this power plant, and the 2024 model year is expected to have even more power.

This is the same engine that powers the Mustang Shelby GT500, which produces 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. However, the engine in the F-150 Raptor will be detuned and will distribute power to all four wheels. With Ford's reputation for performance, the output should exceed that of the Ram 1500 TRX, which has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

The refreshed Ford F-150 Raptor will come with several modifications, including dual-valve Fox shocks for models equipped with 37-inch tires, a modular front bumper, revised headlights, and a new body color called Shelter Green, as well as new hood graphics. The base Raptor will come with 35-inch tires and will not have these additional features.

Full specifications for the Raptor variant have not been released yet. Ford has already announced the prices for the F-150, including the Raptor. The 2024 model year can be purchased for $76,775, but that is the price for the V6-powered version. Those who want the V8-powered Raptor will need to select the Raptor R Equipment Group, which adds an extra $30,575, bringing the total price to $109,900.
