Home > Industry Analysis > Content

【Summary】The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe in Europe will not have the same front look as in other regions due to safety test performance issues. The European version will not include the bold light bar design seen in other markets. However, it will still maintain a rugged appearance with its H-shaped DRLs and imposing body. The SUV will offer a plug-in hybrid version and may potentially feature an EV drivetrain in the future.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe's European Appearance

The Hyundai Palisade has been a popular choice for Hyundai customers who want a three-row SUV with minivan practicality and an improved ride height. However, for those who also want to venture off-road occasionally, the all-new Santa Fe is a great proposition. Although slightly smaller than the Palisade, the redesigned Santa Fe offers a refreshed design and can rival some luxury SUVs in terms of starting price. If Hyundai can offer a reasonable MSRP and reliable powertrains, the 2024 Santa Fe could be a massive success.

The 2024 Santa Fe is set to arrive in North America and Europe in 2024, with South Koreans able to order the first batch starting in September of this year. As we wait for pricing and drivetrain details for North America, it is interesting to note that the European version of the SUV will have a different look. Unfortunately, the European model will not feature the bold light bar design found on the front of the vehicle due to performance issues in Euro NCAP safety tests. Despite this, the Santa Fe will still maintain its rugged appearance and practicality, making it a distinctive choice on European roads.

The decision to drop the light bar design does not take away from the appeal of the Santa Fe. The SUV will still feature the unique H-shaped daytime-running lights (DRLs) and a masculine body. The slim light bar design has become a clever way for some automakers to differentiate their electric vehicles, and while the Santa Fe may not have an all-electric drivetrain at the moment, a plug-in hybrid version will be available in most markets. Americans and Canadians can look forward to enjoying a slightly better-looking 2024 Santa Fe.

Both the IIHS and Euro NCAP have updated their testing procedures, making it more challenging for vehicles to achieve a five-star safety rating. European automakers must now include child presence detection systems, ensure easy operation of electronically-operated windows and doors in case of submergence, and add advanced autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems for motorcyclists, pedestrians, and cyclists. Despite these stricter requirements, the Santa Fe is expected to meet the necessary safety standards.
