2024 Kia Sorento Hybrid and PHEV retain same design

In July, Kia introduced the South Korean market to a refreshed Sorento SUV. The new design features hallmarks that can be seen throughout Kia's lineup, such as ornate DRLs and taillights, vertically oriented headlights, and a single curved display panel inside above a wide, unbroken air vent.

However, the 2024 Kia Sorento Hybrid and PHEV models for the U.S. market are not the same as the South Korean version. The 2024 models have small trim changes and no longer offer the option of Runway Red exterior paint, despite Kia releasing photos of the hybrid in that color. The $295 Navy Color Pack for the interior, previously only available on the top SX-P trims, can now be paired with Gravity Blue exterior paint, and it comes with a gray headliner instead of the previous black headliner.

Prices for the 2024 Sorento have increased slightly compared to the 2023 model. The 2024 Sorento PHEV, available only in SX-P trim, is priced at $49,990, which is $100 more than before. It also requires a $1,325 destination fee, $30 more than before, bringing the total to $51,315. The PHEV model is equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a 66.9-kW motor, producing a combined output of 261 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The 14.1-kWh battery pack provides up to 32 miles of pure-electric range.

The 2024 Sorento Hybrid, excluding the plug-in version, is available in different trims with the following MSRPs (including the $1,325 destination charge) and their differences from the 2023 model:

EX FWD: $36,690 ($130 increase)
EX AWD: $38,990 ($630 increase)
SX-P: $42,490 ($100 increase)

The EX AWD trim has seen the biggest price increase, rising more than $600 compared to the previous year.

The powertrain for the hybrid model includes a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a 44-kW motor, with a combined output of 227 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The front-wheel-drive variant has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 39 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 37 mpg combined. The AWD trim has slightly lower fuel economy numbers.

It is possible that the refreshed Sorento from Kia's home market will make its way to the U.S. as a 2025 model. However, before that, we can expect to receive information about the non-hybrid 2024 Sorento.
