2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain Arrives in the US

Mercedes-Benz is introducing the all-new E-Class All-Terrain, a car that aims to stand out in a market dominated by pickup trucks and SUVs. This second-generation model is set to compete against rivals like the Audi A6 Allroad and Volvo V90 Cross Country. With standard all-wheel drive, Armatic air suspension, and increased ground clearance, the E-Class All-Terrain offers a unique alternative to traditional body styles.

In the United States, customers will have access to the E 450 variant, which is powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine delivering 375 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The Boost function provides an additional 23 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds. European customers, on the other hand, will have a choice between three versions, including a four-cylinder mild-hybrid diesel, a six-cylinder gasoline engine, and a four-cylinder diesel plug-in hybrid.

The 2024 E-Class All-Terrain is based on the E-Class estate and features a redesigned radiator grille and wheel-arch cladding for a more rugged appearance. It also offers 1.8 inches of extra ground clearance and can be lowered by 0.6 inches at higher speeds to improve aerodynamics. With its extended wheelbase, the car provides more legroom for rear passengers.

In terms of off-road capabilities, the E-Class All-Terrain comes equipped with an Off-Road driving program and a "transparent hood" function that uses a 360-degree camera to provide visibility underneath the hood. While it may not match the capabilities of the G-Class, it offers a versatile and spacious interior, with a load capacity ranging from 615 liters to 1,830 liters.

The cabin of the E-Class All-Terrain is similar to that of the sedan and wagon models, with optional features such as a front-passenger display and entertainment options like TikTok videos and Angry Birds. Additionally, the car has a towing capacity of up to 2,100 kilograms and is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2024.
