BMW Vision Neue Klasse Unveils Key Insights into Brand's Future

BMW is set to introduce a radical change in design language with its upcoming Neue Klasse series. This new design will be applied to all six models initially launched on the platform. The Neue Klasse models will be fully electric, with the possibility of hydrogen fuel cell variants.

The interiors of the Neue Klasse models will feature a minimalist design, offering more spaciousness and fewer physical controls. A new iDrive operating system will be implemented, bringing a fresh look and feel to the interior.

In 2025, BMW will change course with the introduction of the Neue Klasse series of vehicles. This series will be mostly electric and represent a significant design departure for the brand. The Vision Neue Klasse concept provides a glimpse into what BMWs built after the middle of the decade will look like, and it closely resembles the production version of the all-new 3 Series that will be launched in 2025.

The Vision Neue Klasse concept showcases not only the 3 Series sedan but also the six models that will be launched from 2025 until 2027. While BMW has not revealed the exact lineup, it is speculated that there will be sedans, crossovers, SUVs, and possibly even wagons.

One of the key revelations of the Vision Neue Klasse concept is the radical change in BMW's design language. This study is an evolution of the Dee concept from 2022 and provides a preview of the all-new 3 Series electric sedan. The design language showcased in this concept will be used across the entire BMW lineup, with variations for each of the six models built on the Neue Klasse platform.

The Neue Klasse models will share a bespoke EV platform, which will primarily focus on electric power. While there will be some hydrogen fuel cell variants, they will be less common than the fully electric models. The platform will support various motor configurations, including single- and dual-motor setups, as well as three or four motors for M performance models.

The interiors of the Neue Klasse models will adopt a minimalist approach, with a new iDrive operating system. The central screen, running the new iDrive, is not angled towards the driver but is skewed to provide a similar effect without compromising the front passenger's access to the screen. The transition to a bespoke electric vehicle architecture allows for increased passenger compartment size in relation to the vehicle's wheelbase and overall length.

The sixth generation of BMW's eDrive powertrain and battery technology will be introduced with the Neue Klasse models. This new generation promises improvements in charging speed, range, and efficiency. BMW claims that the pure-electric 3 Series will have an EPA range of close to 400 miles, making it a long-range EV.

The Vision Neue Klasse concept is a positive indication of the changes happening at BMW. It shows that the brand is taking feedback into account and moving in the right direction. The launch of the Neue Klasse series will coincide with BMW's accelerated shift towards manufacturing only electric cars by 2030.

This concept not only previews the future of BMW design but also showcases an electric 3 Series that looks like it belongs in a science fiction movie.
