2024 Volkswagen Tiguan revealed worldwide

The third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan is set to arrive in India in 2024. Volkswagen unveiled the new model at its world premiere in Wolfsburg, Germany. Since its debut in 2007, the Tiguan has been the company's highest-selling model, with over 7.6 million units sold globally. Production of the third-gen Tiguan will begin later this year at the Wolfsburg facility.

The new Tiguan will first be launched in various European markets in early 2024, followed by the US market. The 2024 model boasts a fresh design, more features, and a new plug-in hybrid engine option. It is built on Volkswagen's updated MQB 'evo' platform.

One of the notable features of the 2024 Tiguan is its new design and dimensions. It is the first MQB model to feature the newly developed IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, which give the front fascia a distinctive appearance. These headlights use 38,400 multi-pixel LEDs for illumination and are connected by a slim LED light strip on top of the partial glass cover. The third-gen Tiguan also has a slightly curvy profile, contributing to a lower drag coefficient. Additionally, it sports new dual-tone alloy wheels, more pronounced haunches, and a full-width LED taillight.

In terms of measurements, the new Tiguan is 4539 mm long, 1639 mm tall, and 1842 mm wide, with a wheelbase of 2680 mm. Compared to its predecessor, it is 4 mm taller and 30 mm longer. The boot space has also increased by 37 liters to a total of 652 liters.

The interior of the 2024 Tiguan offers high-quality materials and features a new Digital Cockpit with a redesigned 10.25-inch digital instrument display. The driver-oriented 15.1-inch infotainment system runs on Volkswagen's latest MIB4 graphic design. The touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel have been replaced with physical buttons for improved tactility. The volume slider and climate control buttons at the base of the central screen are backlit, and the new rotary dial on the center console has its own mini screen for controlling various functions. The gear lever has been repositioned to the steering column, similar to the new-gen Skoda Kodiaq.

Volkswagen offers a range of powertrain options for the new Tiguan, including turbo diesel engines, turbo petrol engines, mild hybrid turbo petrol engines, and plug-in hybrid systems. All powertrains come with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard and are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
